Our Community Hubs

Our community hubs are the heart of the Leading Great Lives Foundation — welcoming, inclusive spaces where families can access support, advice and connection. Each hub is shaped by its local community and strengthened through partnerships with health practitioners, children’s services, third-sector organisations and local volunteers.

Kingsbridge Community Hub

The Kingsbridge Hub continues to grow as a vibrant centre for family support and community activity.

MotherBorn Collective

Since moving into the hub in April, the MotherBorn Collective has expanded its offer significantly. Families can now access:

• Weekly baby and toddler sessions
• Breastfeeding and bottle‑feeding support
• Peer support groups
• Breast pump and resource hire
• Baby massage and baby yoga
• The hugely popular Baby Rockers sessions

These groups have become a lifeline for new parents, helping to reduce isolation and build confidence in the early stages of family life.

The Fidget Project

The Fidget Project offers specialist Occupational Therapy support for children with sensory processing differences. Through hands‑on workshops and individual sessions, they support children, parents and carers across the South Hams community.

Dental Outreach

A new partnership with Quay Dental Surgery will bring fortnightly dental outreach to the hub. Additionally, schools across the trust are training Dental Champions who will run dental hygiene workshops in both schools and hubs — supported by resources funded by Kingsbridge Rotary Club.

Community Expansion

The hub hosted a well-attended launch event in October and continues to grow its offer with mental health support sessions, family activities and new partnerships with local groups and businesses.

Wynstream Hub: Toddler Group & Community Garden

Wynstream Toddler Group

Supported by a Tesco grant, the Wynstream Toddler Group has quickly become a warm, busy and supportive meeting point for families with children aged 0–5.

Held every Wednesday morning, sessions include:

• Play and exploration

• Conversation and peer support

• Refreshments

• Guidance from local practitioners

• Themed weeks linked to festivals and celebrations

Attendance continues to rise, with parents valuing the relaxed, drop in nature of the group.

Community Garden Project

Launched in the summer, the Wynstream Community Garden is a collaborative project bringing together:

• Young people from New Roots Workshop

• Wynstream pupils

• Parents and families

• Local gardening groups and composting initiatives

Raised beds have already been built, and spring will see families planting, growing and maintaining fruit and vegetables together — building a shared sense of resilience, sustainability and pride. Funding has been secured through Backyard Nature and local donors.

Dartmouth Outreach

Monthly outreach meetings in Dartmouth provide families with access to local practitioners, support groups and advice. As soon as suitable premises are secured, the Foundation will establish a dedicated hub in the town — expanding early help, parent groups and family workshops.

Kingsteignton Community Hub

Following extensive parent survey work and community engagement, the Kingsteignton Hub is now developing a programme shaped directly by family voice.

Current and emerging work:

• Monthly hub meetings with practitioners

• Parent workshops and events

• A business breakfast in early planning stages

• Increased support for families of children aged 2–3, aligned with Devon’s Best Start in Life project

A growing partnership with Devon County Council will strengthen early-years support across Kingsteignton, Newton Abbot and Teignmouth.

Citizens Advice Partnership

Citizens Advice caseworkers have supported around 50 families this year, offering guidance on:

• Housing
• Finance and debt
• Benefits
• Family crisis support

Although the dedicated 1‑day‑per-week pilot ends in April due to regional restructuring, the relationship remains strong. Fast-track school referrals will continue, and new funding streams focusing on crisis, resilience and housing are being explored.
